The trouble with Eve....

I was thinking about Eve recently, mainly due to the fact that I have been attending womens events/colleges/club meetings a lol lately.

Women tend to keep scorecards. Even though I know better I will catch myself comparing my 'score' on this or that with someone else's. Come one, now, admit it. We do it. We even can keep score on how well we are not keeping score!

I cannot begin to count the ways we count up the scores, but you know what I mean. And sometimes the one we find the most lacking i… Continue

Rescue and Restore

On 1/09 I attended a meeting in Atlanta that is to start a group for folks concerned about Human Trafficking. It was very informative and a great start to getting a campaign going of getting the word out in my home state of Georgia about this issue. I am hoping to get my church to join the federal Rescue and Restore campaign so I can get printed materials to use to share info in my county and possibly have a community meeting about it soon.

I met Erik Voss with the Georgia Coalition of

New York at Christmas....

I guess I should be all spiritual and post something profound. However, my thoughts are too fluid to jot down right now. So, hey, lets talk about next week. For Christmas my husband gave me time off for good behavior and instead of spending it with his family (yay!) I am flying for three brief days to renew connection with my 2 sisters in New York City. I know I have not seen one of them for at least 17 years or more because she has never seen my daughter Alex. The other one it has probably b

Movies

I wonder why I love movies and actors so much. Its like a hobby of mine to remember what movies actors have been in, for example, and that drives my husband crazy. Mainly because I feel the need to share this information throughout the movie we are currently watching, kind of like a sports casters play-by-play. And he really does not care. Sheesh, what is the point of memorizing useless knowledge such as this if I cannot share it? Anyway, I do love movies. I still love going to the movies. Thats… Continue

from Vox, got your update email. I think the conference was a one shot deal...it was an 'emerging conversations' event. I was glad to see the COG was open to the dialogue. I really enjoy the discussion and hearing fresh voices and ideas...it uplifts, builds faith and keeps us young! I praise God that there are places like both Vox and M and annointed folks to carry them forth.

That's awesome, Tracy. Glad I could offer some inspiration. How'd the conference go this year?
How'd did you hear about M?

Alex -Thanks! Not as frequent to Vox as I had hoped, but I do get by there. I enjoyed meeting you at Re:formation (weekend conference held by the N GA COG) last year in Lawrenceville GA. The inspiration I received there from your message and the round table discussions was carried back to my small group and was very influential in the development of our Performing Acts of Kindness ministry. We work with a temporary childrens home as a group among other things and seek to find ways to be randomly kind and show compassion to others individually too. Trying to encourage others to do the same.

Holiness and Risk

A few hours after touching down back in Scotland from The International Mentoring Network’s Immersion experience in Orlando, I found myself in a conversation about a Methodist Church initiative called Holiness and Risk.

Is it okay if I tell you a little about this? It’s a really intriguing kind of thing that can emerge [...]

Tomorrow and How to Get There – The Futuristic

Tomorrow.  Face it with either fear or anticipation, it doesn’t matter which, it is coming regardless of our grasp of it.  Fortunes have been made marketing knowledge about tomorrow whether that tomorrow is 24 hours away or 100 years distant.

Fortune tellers make the promise that that can allay our fears with their prognostication [...]

Communities of Knowing

In his book, The Message in the Bottle, Walker Percy tells the fictional story of a train that hurried through the countryside. The commuters on board saw the passing scenery as little more than a two-dimensional background rolling past their windows.

One day, though, the train breaks down and the commuters have to disembark by a [...]
