What is the goal?

I remember as a church pastor, how many church members came to see me, because they felt their ultimate dreams were to get into full time ministry?

Now we all know what that means, we earn money through ministry!

This was my goal once, and I enjoyed my time as a full time pastor. I just remember that before becoming a pastor, feeling that I could not be usefull to God otherwise.

Now that I have left my career as a pastor and now work in the Corporate world of SA, I realis

Christianity today, or consumer today...

A friend of mine recently spoke to the editor of Christianity Today. He was very interrested in showing the editor certain wonderful Christian projects happening in our country. But he wasn't interrested, he wanted to find something Evangelical that would resonate with his readers. Something mega, something impressive....

The readers of CT only want to hear about Christianity in a specific way, the western conservative way...

When he told me this, I was worried....

Visit in the Squatter Camps

This weekend our group Apprentice 119 will be visiting the Zandspruit Community Church with Pastor Sipho and His friends. Hermann planted the church in 1997 and he was invited as founder to lead this weekends service. These area's have lately been rocked by Xenophobic violence and murder.

These people in Zandspruit are the poorest of the poor and they are really struggling with high food prices and unemployment. People in this community have one tap and toilet per 400 people.

Hi Hermann, sorry to take a while to reply. Yes, very popular and growing. Everything from corporate to life coaching and across all areas of industry. It is just coming to the point where regulation may become necessary and that will be an interesting process! Your experience would invaluable as coaching for church leaders is probably the most neglected area there is. To many, it seems like an admission of failure - the unforgiveable sin! I would love to hear more about where you are going with your coaching and NGO.

We used to be in fulltime ministry for 10 years, but left to be on the front battle lines. We now have our own consulting company doing leadership development and coaching.

Some of our group members are also very involved on the social front in terms of health and education.

We are also in the process of starting a NGO, that will focus on leadership development for the previously disadvantages who can't afford training and coaching.

We should do coffee some time!

Take care.
