perhaps the reason the only sanction those three are that judo and aikido are purely defensive arts, there are no strikes in either system. in fact when they first tried to spar in aikido neither student would attack the other because they had no attacks haha (at least thats what ive heard. taiji however perhaps they sanction it because its less volatile than other martial arts, in fact to most people the martial applications are completely lost.
i say they should keep more of an open mind.there are many more martial arts out there that have merits, even if they are more agressive.

Little-known fact: the only martial arts that are BSA*-sanctioned are judo, aikido, and Tai Chi Chuan.

What distinguishes these from other Eastern martial arts? Are there other martial arts like these which the BSA ought to consider sanctioning? (If they like these three styles, what others should they look into?)
